Privacy Policy
Effective 30 October 2026
The short version
- Pouchy works without an account. Your trips and expenses stay on your iPhone unless you turn on sync.
- No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no tracking, and no selling of data.
- If you choose Sign in with Apple, your records sync to our database so they are available on your other devices.
- You can export your data or delete your account from Settings at any time.
Who we are
Pouchy is published by Oscar Lim ("we", "us"). Contact: mahathiroscar@gmail.com.
Data that stays on your device
Trips, expenses, budgets, preferences and saved exchange rates are stored locally on your iPhone. If you choose a background photo for a trip, the photo is copied into the app's storage on your iPhone only. It is never uploaded or synced, and erasing your data in Settings removes it. The Home Screen widgets read a small summary (your saved rates, and your trips' names, dates, colours and, unless hidden, spending) from storage shared only between the app and its widgets. Turning on Hide trip spend in Settings removes every amount from the widgets; trip names and dates are still shown and are marked as sensitive so iOS can hide them while your iPhone is locked.
Auto-log
Auto-log is off until you turn it on. When you set it up, a Shortcuts automation you create passes the amount and merchant name of each Apple Pay purchase to Pouchy. Pouchy saves them as an expense on your iPhone, like one you typed yourself. It never connects to your bank, card issuer or Apple Pay account and receives nothing else about the payment. Turning Auto-log off stops new purchases being added; deleting the automation in Shortcuts stops it completely.
Data we process if you turn on sync
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Account identifier from Sign in with Apple | To know which records belong to you. |
| Email address shared by Apple (this may be a private relay address) | Part of your sign-in account. We do not send marketing email. |
| Trip and expense records you create, such as names, notes, amounts, currencies, categories and dates | To sync your records between your devices. |
Synced data is stored with our database provider, Supabase, in its Sydney, Australia region. Supabase processes it only to provide the service to us. We use this data only to operate the app's features. It is never used for advertising or tracking and never sold.
Exchange rates
To show reference rates, the app and its Home Screen widget request rates for a currency pair and date from the Frankfurter exchange-rate service. These requests contain no personal information about you, but like any internet request they reveal your device's IP address to that service.
Purchases
Pouchy Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes payment; we never see your payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether Pro is active.
Diagnostics
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS settings, Apple may provide us with anonymised crash reports. TestFlight testers may send us feedback and screenshots through TestFlight. We do not include any other analytics.
Retention and deletion
Local data stays until you delete it or remove the app. Synced data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account in Settings removes your account and synced records from our database and revokes Pouchy's Sign in with Apple access. If backups exist, deleted data is removed when those backups expire. You can request a copy of your data at any time from Settings > Get a free copy of my data.
Your choices and rights
You can use Pouchy entirely without an account, stop syncing by signing out, export your data, or delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your data, or to object to processing. Email us to exercise them; we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Pouchy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
